Holly and Kyra at the 2009 Emmys

As previously posted, TNT stars Kyra Sedgwick and Holly Hunter were both up for a Best Lead Drama Actress Emmy during the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony that aired on September 20.

The actresses lost to Damages star Glenn Close, unfortunately, but that didn’t stop them from looking spectacular on the red carpet. Follow the jump to see just what knockouts they were.

No 2009 Emmy for Holly Hunter or Kyra Sedgwick

TNT’s top two leading ladies — Kyra Sedgwick of The Closer and Holly Hunter of Saving Grace — attended the September 20 ceremony for the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards, but neither actress won the Best Lead Drama Actress statue.

Instead, the honor went to their fellow veteran thespian Glenn Close (pictured above on the red carpet before the festivities, looking cool and unworried in chic shades), who stars in basic-cable network FX’s intense original legal drama Damages.

‘Trust Me’s Eric McCormack Guests on ‘Law & Order: SVU’

Remember TNT’s short-lived original series Trust Me from earlier this year? That was the advertising dramedy starring Will & Grace’s Eric McCormack (pictured below) and Ed’s Tom Cavanagh, which was swiftly canceled in April after just one season.

If you were a fan of the show, then I’ve got good news. No, TNT hasn’t decided to resurrect Trust Me. But you can catch McCormack on an upcoming episode of NBC’s hit crime drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Holly Hunter Takes On Kyra Sedgwick at 2009 Emmys

The Closer’s Kyra Sedgwick and Saving Grace’s Holly Hunter are more than just top TNT talent. When the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony airs on CBS tomorrow, September 20, at 8pm ET, the dynamic actresses will battle each other for the second year in a row to win a prized Best Lead Drama Actress statuette.

Although neither of their shows and none of their co-stars have been nominated for an Emmy this year, it’s notable that the series stars themselves have scored a Best Lead Drama Actress nomination every single year that their respective TNT cop show has aired.

Jada is pictured above at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party held in Los Angeles, California, on February 22, 2009. As always, she looks smashing.
HawthoRNe will return to TNT for Season Two in 2010.
