Tricia Helfer Reportedly Joins ‘Dark Blue’ Cast

If you thought Dark Blue receiving a second season just before fans were about to start losing hope was good news, how about this possible casting development?

According to Battlestar Galactica veteran Tricia Helfer (pictured above) herself, she has joined the cast of the stark cop drama, presumably for its upcoming sophomore run.

TNT’s original ensemble legal drama Raising the Bar may have been canceled at the end of last year, but that hasn’t stopped former lead cast member J. August Richards from scoring a prized role on another network’s hugely popular primetime series.

According to TV Guide, the Angel veteran will play a young Dr. Richard Webber on ABC’s hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, which is now in its sixth season.

Another Trio Joins ‘Delta Blues’ Pilot

The cast for TNT’s George Clooney-produced pilot Delta Blues is really filling up. Yet three more talented thespians have signed on since the last three cast members were added.

The Hollywood Reporter identifies the newcomers as familiar Men in Trees and ER actor Abraham Benrubi, Hustle & Flow star DJ Qualls, and Celia Weston (pictured above) of the 1980s diner sitcom Alice.

They’re not playing around when it comes to stuffing the cast of the TNT pilot Delta Blues with top-notch talent. Shortly after snagging former My Name Is Earl star Jason Lee to star, the potential series has filled three more major roles.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the latest additions are Sam Hennings, Leonard Earl Howze, and Robyn Lively (pictured above).

‘My Name Is Earl’ Alum Jason Lee Heads ‘Delta Blues’ Cast

Fans of former NBC sitcom My Name Is Earl have reason to rejoice today. No, the comedy isn’t coming back, but its star Jason Lee (pictured below as character Earl Hickey) has been cast as the lead in the George Clooney-produced TNT pilot Delta Blues.

According to the network’s official press release, Lee is set to play central character Dwight Hendricks, a Memphis, Tennessee-based cop who shares a residence with his mother and also moonlights as an Elvis impersonator. I’m laughing already.

Casting is moving full steam ahead for the buzzed-about TNT pilot Rizzoli, with the latest reported addition already a veteran of cable television.

That Rizzoli newcomer who has just been added to the potential series’ cast is actress Lorraine Bracco (pictured above), a former star of the long-running hit HBO crime drama The Sopranos.

I was a huge fan of the CBS military legal-crime procedural NCIS long before it became cool to like the show. So, you can imagine how thrilled I am to report that Sasha Alexander, an original regular on the series and a two-time guest star on Dark Blue, has just been cast in the second lead role in the TNT pilot Rizzoli.

‘Men of a Certain Age’ Lands Robert Loggia

TNT’s latest original drama Men of a Certain Age is determined to give viewers top-notch entertainment. TV Guide recently announced the series has cast veteran actor Robert Loggia in a key role: Artie, the father of Ray Romano’s character Joe.

The former Mancuso, FBI star will make his debut on the show during a January episode that will find Joe trying to lift Artie’s spirits following his retirement from the family hardware store and angioplasty surgery.

‘Rizzoli’ Has Its Star

Not too long ago, TNT announced the network’s plans to develop a pilot for an intriguing new crime drama called Rizzoli. Well, now that potential series has a star and her name is Angie Harmon.

Television fans may be familiar with the actress from her previous work on other crime dramas, including her most well-known role as dedicated, no-nonsense Assistant District Attorney Abbie Carmichael on NBC’s long-running procedural Law & Order, as well as her more recent short-lived turn on ABC’s female-centric Women’s Murder Club. Harmon clearly has what it takes to play a crimebuster convincingly.

Here’s some excellent casting news for a series we haven’t even seen yet. Back in September, I wrote about Jada Pinkett Smith’s potential TNT original drama Time Heals, which has since become a reality. Now comes news that Alias and Big Shots alum Michael Vartan, a perennial fan favorite, has joined the cast of the series as a replacement for Jeffrey Nordling (Dirt, 24), who played the same role in the pilot.
