The Closer: Four-Minute Season 4 Rapid Recap
May 12, 2009 by Chandra
Whew! TNT is right on time!
Kyra Sedgwick’s Emmy-nominated crime drama The Closer opens its fifth season in less than a month, on Monday, June 8, at 9pm ET. Thankfully, the network realizes how difficult it can be to recall all of those cases and plot twists, so it just uploaded a Season Four rapid recap yesterday.
The video clocks in at a little over four minutes, which is quite enough footage to get back up to speed on Team Brenda’s most recent adventures in California Copland. This time, however, the season ended with a bang in the form …read more

The Closer: 4.8 'Split Ends' Review
September 2, 2008 by Chandra
Original Air Date: September 1, 2008
Although definitely not the best or most riveting episosde of The Closer so far this season, “Split Ends” does have its moments. Many of them, in fact, are comedic, which is a nice counterpoint to the very grave and extremely depressing topics the show has tackled in recent weeks.
The main murder of the installment involves a 33-year-old Hollywood hairstylist named Rachel Hughes, whose viciously beaten and bloody body is found underneath a trailer on the lot of her popular TV show Trauma Unit. It’s easy enough to determine where Hughes works since the …read more
Saving Grace: 2.7 'You Are My Partner' Review
Original Air Date: August 25, 2008
Ham, Ham, Ham!
Whoever wrote the official TNT description for “You Are My Partner,” Saving Grace’s second-midseason finale, must have been as drunk as Ham is at the very beginning because there’s no mention of Bobby at all, let alone his recent disappearance into an undercover role. Despite the customary crime woven into the plot for good measure, this episode was all about Ham and the cop’s continuing spiral downwards following the death in the Middle East of his Marine younger brother, Ralph.
The crime of the week, an especially hateful and typically twisted one, revolves …read more
The Closer: 4.7 'Sudden Death' Review
August 25, 2008 by Chandra
Original Air Date: August 25, 2008
The moment I read the description, I knew this episode of The Closer, directed by Kyra Sedgwick’s husband, actor Kevin Bacon, was going to be one of the best I’ve seen. It didn’t disappoint either.
“Sudden Death” opens with the apparent drive-by shooting of Detective Julio Sanchez’s brother, Oscar, practically right outside the cop’s house and in broad daylight as he works on his motorcycle. The 19-year-old dies soon after he reaches the hospital, which is no surprise considering he was shot four times. Sanchez’s response afterwards in front of his colleagues, all …read more
Saving Grace: 2.3 'A Little Hometown Love' Review
Original Air Date: July 28, 2008
I don’t know if it was because I was coming off of the intense high of The Closer’s preceding episode “Cherry Bomb” or if it was because something is changing on Saving Grace, but to my great surprise, I actually enjoyed an episode of Holly Hunter’s show all the way through. This is a first, and an amazing one at that, at least for a TV watcher like me who didn’t last past the halfway mark of Saving Grace’s first season.
The episode opens with Grace having a recurring dream about her and Leon Cooley …read more
