Hit cop drama The Closer doesn’t return until December 7, but fans can spend some time with co-creator James Duff right now, courtesy of TNT’s extensive online video library.

Also an executive producer, writer, and occasional director on the network’s most high-profile show, Duff provides a unique and interesting behind-the-scenes look at the Kyra Sedgwick series in a trio of clips.
‘Rizzoli’ Adds Former ‘NCIS’ Star Sasha Alexander
I was a huge fan of the CBS military legal-crime procedural NCIS long before it became cool to like the show. So, you can imagine how thrilled I am to report that Sasha Alexander, an original regular on the series and a two-time guest star on Dark Blue, has just been cast in the second lead role in the TNT pilot Rizzoli.

Alexander is set to portray medical examiner Maura Isles, alongside Law & Order alumna Angie Harmon, who was just selected to play the lead character Detective Jane Rizzoli. As in the popular series of Rizzoli mystery novels by Tess Gerritsen, the women work together in Boston to solve homicides.
‘Southland’ Inches Closer to TNT Move
October 29, 2009 by Chandra
There’s a bit more recent news on the Southland-to-TNT front. Apparently, the network and the cop drama’s production studio Warner Bros. are currently working out the last kinks in a deal.

According to The Los Angeles Times, the agreement will have TNT buying 13 episodes: the seven that comprised the first season, which aired in April and May 2009 on NBC, and an additional six episodes already filmed for the ill-fated second season that never made it to the small screen on the show’s original home network.

TNT’s newest original series Men of a Certain Age doesn’t premiere until December, but the network has already come up with a memorable way to help spread the word about the drama and its central theme of changes and challenges in middle age.

On Sunday, November 1, TNT will promote the show during the acclaimed ING New York City Marathon by participating in the Cheer Zone set up at the Food Emporium Bridgemarket, right where the race heads into Manhattan from Queens.

TNT’s latest original drama Men of a Certain Age is determined to give viewers top-notch entertainment. TV Guide recently announced the series has cast veteran actor Robert Loggia in a key role: Artie, the father of Ray Romano’s character Joe.

The former Mancuso, FBI star will make his debut on the show during a January episode that will find Joe trying to lift Artie’s spirits following his retirement from the family hardware store and angioplasty surgery.
George Clooney Pilot Good to Go at TNT
October 27, 2009 by Chandra
Former ER star and current mega movie star George Clooney has successfully shopped a drama pilot called Delta Blues to TNT through his production company Smokehouse Pictures. The actor is also set to serve as co-executive producer.

Yet another in a long entertaining line of crime dramas, Delta Blues tells the tale of a competent yet quirky cop who lives with his mom in Memphis, Tennessee. When he’s not busy fighting crime, the guy actually has a second job wowing crowds as an Elvis impersonator. Now that’s what I call quirky, and I can only imagine what kinds of crimes he gets to investigate.
‘Rizzoli’ Has Its Star
Not too long ago, TNT announced the network’s plans to develop a pilot for an intriguing new crime drama called Rizzoli. Well, now that potential series has a star and her name is Angie Harmon.

Television fans may be familiar with the actress from her previous work on other crime dramas, including her most well-known role as dedicated, no-nonsense Assistant District Attorney Abbie Carmichael on NBC’s long-running procedural Law & Order, as well as her more recent short-lived turn on ABC’s female-centric Women’s Murder Club. Harmon clearly has what it takes to play a crimebuster convincingly.

October 24, 2009 by Chandra
In case you’ve been wondering, it seems the NBC exile Southland is inching closer and closer toward becoming a TNT series.

As recently reported, NBC stunned the television industry and fans on October 8 when it suddenly canceled the cop drama before it even had the chance to begin its second season, which was originally scheduled to premiere yesterday, October 23.
