Saving Grace: 'But There's Clay' in Photos

Saving Grace

Preview photos for “But There’s Clay,” tonight’s brand-new episode of Saving Grace, are here.

The hour features marvelous guest star Kathy Baker, whom I’ve adored since her Picket Fences days back in the 1990s. Saying that I’m looking forward to her performance on the series is definitely an understatement. Baker will return this season to reprise her role; yet, I wouldn’t mind her hanging around as a recurring or even regular player.

But enough about what I want. Check out a sneak peek for the episode in the earlier preview post and follow the jump for those stills.

Saving Grace: ‘But There’s Clay’ Preview

March 29, 2009 by Chandra

Holly Hunter/Saving GraceIt’s good to have Bobby back on Saving Grace following his recent undercover gig, and the sneak peek for the March 30 episode “But There’s Clay” drives that home with a nice look at him and his regular partner Butch doing their thing together in the interrogation room.

Part of the episode’s plot revolves around Grace’s brother-in-law Doug and his developing relationship with Maggie, a new bartender at Louie’s who’s played by one of my favorite actresses ever, Picket Fences veteran Kathy Baker. Excellent casting.

Concerned aunt that she is, when Grace isn’t busy helping investigate the latest OCPD case involving a murdered jogger with maybe a little too much love in her life, she’s preoccupied worrying about how her nephew Clay is going to feel about his father’s “extracurricular activities.” I’m wondering about that, too.

Continue after the jump for that sneak peek featuring Bobby and Butch questioning a witness and then a little brainstorming with Ham, Captain Kate, Grace, and Rhetta.

Saving Grace: ‘The Live Ones’ Preview

March 18, 2009 by Chandra

Holly Hunter/Saving GraceSadly to say — at least for those of us who thoroughly enjoyed Christina Ricci’s recent guest stint as Grace’s temporary partner Abby Charles — it’s back to Dewey and Darko on the next episode of Saving Grace, March 23rd’s “The Live Ones.”

Butch’s partner Bobby also reaches the end of his undercover assignment, although there’s no way to predict whether that’s a good or bad thing, and Clay’s new friend Benjamin Cooley, played by terrific 16-year-old Lost actor Malcolm David Kelley, helps out at the police department, too.

As for the case of the week, it involves a dead woman found at the home of a successful architect portrayed by Canadian actor and Christopher Meloni lookalike Elias Koteas, who has acted in numerous excellent feature films. Love him.

The latest Saving Grace sneak peek features the infamous Dewey and Darko and the rest of their OCPD colleagues plying their trade at the scene of the episode’s primary crime. It doesn’t reveal much nitty gritty, but the clip is nicely atmospheric. Check it out after the jump. I think Grace likes what she sees, aside from the dead victim that is.

Saving Grace: 'Take Me Somewhere Earl' in Photos

March 16, 2009 by Chandra

Holly Hunter/Saving GraceTonight’s episode of Saving Grace called “Take Me Somewhere Earl” is currently the last one scheduled for stellar guest star Christina Ricci. And, if the sneak peek is anywhere near accurate, her character Abby Charles is going out (for now) just as I would expect: strong, independent, intriguing, and imperfect.

When the squad investigates the death of a drug dealer at an apartment complex, Ham and Butch run into Bobby, who is still undercover. Elsewhere, the cold shoulder Abby receives from her fellow officers leads Grace to dig up some information about why Abby was placed with the squad. Also, Rhetta and Johnny try to build a clemency case for Leon Cooley, who’s far less than interested.

Follow the jump to check out some preview photos for the episode.

Saving Grace: ‘Take Me Somewhere Earl’ Preview

March 11, 2009 by Chandra

Holly Hunter/Saving GraceThe next new episode of TNT’s Saving Grace is March 16th’s “Take Me Somewhere Earl,” and I believe this is the one that marks the end of Christina Ricci’s excellent guest-star arc … for now. I add the last part because I wouldn’t be surprised if show runners arrange to bring Ricci’s Abby Charles back later since both the actress and her character have added so much to the series during their too brief visit.

Now that Grace’s Catholic priest brother Johnny has learned that she and death-row inmate Leon Cooley share last-chance angel Earl, he teams up with Rhetta to try to get clemency for the convict, which somber Leon wants nothing to do with.

Meanwhile, Ham and Butch encounter Bobby, still undercover, during the squad’s investigation of a drug dealer’s death at an apartment complex, and Grace digs into Abby’s past when she witnesses how her fellow police officers ignore her.

Just how much do Abby’s colleagues give her the cold shoulder? Check out the sneak peek after the jump to see. Talk about childish and unprofessional all rolled up in one.

Last on 'Saving Grace': The Heart of a Cop

March 9, 2009 by Chandra

Saving Grace

Episode 2.08: The Heart of a Cop
Original Air Date: March 2, 2009

Grace meets her new temporary partner, 28-year-old officer Abby Charles, onboard for a required 28-day rotation with the detective squad. Abby also goes to law school at night because she ultimately wants to join the FBI, has a 12-year-old son she gave birth to at 16, and seems really eager to work with and be liked by Grace, whom she describes as one-half of the legendary Dewey and Darko detective team.

Meanwhile, Ham is partnered with Butch while Butch’s partner Bobby remains undercover from the end of the midseason. The two have different partnering styles — Ham and Grace riff off of each other, and Bobby likes to observe while Butch leads interrogations — which results in some funny moments when the two continually ask the same question or ask different questions at the same time while interviewing witnesses.

Last-chance angel Earl drops by to visit Grace to prompt her to do more to help death-row inmate Leon Cooley, whose execution date is rapidly approaching and who won’t say a word to the angel, although Earl makes it clear he’s not giving up on the convict. Grace doesn’t want to be bothered, apparently because of the cop Leon killed. But Rhetta eventually reminds her that she could have been Leon if Earl hadn’t intervened when she hit and killed Leon with her car at the beginning of the series.

Saving Grace: 'Do You Believe in Second Chances?' in Photos

March 4, 2009 by Chandra

Holly Hunter/Saving GraceThe next new episode of Saving Grace, March 9th’s “Do You Believe in Second Chances?,” should be a fairly exciting one, if the preview photos after the jump are any indication.

In addition to showing Grace and her current partner Abby looking pretty tight, there are a couple of shots with their fellow male cops participating in some serious gunplay. I’m sure nobody gets hurt, but it’s always more dramatic when weapons are pulled and crooks get apprehended by force. All the action just makes the adrenaline flow, you know.

As mentioned in the earlier sneak peek post, the episode’s main crime plotline revolves around ignorant teenagers who decide to make homemade cocktails with their parents’ prescription drugs. Duh! The big problem, however, is that some of those drugs may contain unexpectedly hazardous components responsible for putting one of the teens in a coma.

Follow the jump to get an advance look at “Do You Believe in Second Chances?” in a few still images.

Saving Grace: ‘Do You Believe in Second Chances?’ Preview

March 3, 2009 by Chandra

Holly Hunter/Saving GraceTNT just posted the preview for the March 9 episode of Saving Grace a few hours ago.

The installment is called “Do You Believe in Second Chances?,” and it’s all about teenagers with way too much time on their hands and parents who are way too lenient and incompetent. I never would have gotten away with the kind of crap they do when I was growing up and thus wouldn’t have even considered trying.

The “crap” in question are the so-called drug parties, labeled a Scavenger Party on Grace, where kids steal prescription medication from their parents’ medicine cabinets at home and then mix everything together for a very unpredictable and potentially deadly pharmaceutical cocktail.

When the best friend of Grace’s niece Sayre lapses into a coma following one of these idiotic gatherings, the OCPD crew tries to figure out why some of the drugs the teens got their hands on were apparently more lethal than they should have been.

Sneak a peek at the episode in the video following the jump, which features Rhetta, Abby, Ham, Butch, and Grace discussing the case involving yet another crop of stupid teenagers and the irresponsible parents who poorly raised them.

Saving Grace: 'The Heart of a Cop' in Photos

March 2, 2009 by Chandra

Holly Hunter/Saving GraceThe second-midseason premiere of Saving Grace happens tonight on TNT at 10pm EST.

During “The Heart of a Cop,” we meet multi-episode guest star Christina Ricci (Ally McBeal, The Addams Family), who plays police officer Abby Charles, Grace’s new partner while Ham works out his demons.

There’s also a suspected serial killer in the mix, and Grace has to deal with angel Earl, who insists she help Leon Cooley before his rapidly approaching execution date finally arrives.

Preview the episode in the photos after the jump. Inevitable growing pains aside, Grace and Abby look well-partnered, not to mention armed and very dangerous, despite their petite stature (Hunter is 5-foot-2 and Ricci 5-foot-1).

You can also take a look at a sneak peek for the episode in the previous video preview post.
